The punk fashion of 1970’s London is the source of inspiration for this collection. Semi-permanent colours, defined cuts created with clippers and highly textured upper zones to create a crest effect.  Extensions were used in specific areas on some of the models in order to create discontinuity in the hair.

The name of this collection reflects the punk era of London in the 70s as well as the designer Vivienne Westwood, and both these entities served as the inspiration for this collection.  New Wave is a global term for various styles from the late 1970s, with links to punk, rock and other styles of music and punk aesthetics.  Whilst investigating this era over a period of time, we fell in love with the typical defined and transgressive cuts which mark this era and created such an impact on style, along with the facial and clothing accessories.  It was a time of vindication for both music and women, hence the shaved and aggressive cuts of those years; and who better to look to as our source than Westwood, who was always at the forefront of this generation, from her catwalk shows to demonstrations, she was an inspiration for so many.
